Description
The undated, start-anytime Ice Cool Confidence SkaterPlanner™ is a fantastic all-in-one resource to get you thinking about a plan for your skating instead of just drifting from day to day and finding you’re not progressing as quickly as you’d like. There are motivational and confidence exercises and fun pages too which are so important right now as we work through the challenges 2020 has brought us. And it’s a great place to keep all your skating information together – your goals, competition and test dates and results, monthly training notes, and planning for competitions and tests when they start again.
There’s a fill-in-your-own-date diary section with plenty of space to write in those patch times, lesson changes, off-ice schedules, skate camps, competition and test dates, school homework and – most important of all, time out zooms with friends. All this, wrapped up in a fabulous A5, spiral bound essential addition to the competitive skater’s kitbag.
The SkaterPlanner™ now comes in an undated format so you can start at any time of the year. For those who have used previous annual editions, you’ll find plenty of your old favourite exercises and sources of information to keep you on track throughout the skating season, whether you start in January or July. Keep it in your skate bag and make it the coolest place in the rink!
“I love my 2016 planner…I use it every time I skate or have a lesson. I also used it in preparation for my first ever competition this past Sunday (placed 4th of 8 skaters). It really helped me to be able to write down my strategy before and my reflection after the event. Please put me in the queue for the 2017 planner…don’t want to miss it!” – Amy Hayashimoto LaReau

A Quick ‘Hello’ to Parents and Coaches – and a little background on why I produced this lovely SkaterPlanner™…
Some years ago when my daughter first started skating, I quickly realised that a lack of communication was a contributory factor to Skater Family Stress – it wasn’t anybody’s fault – simply the structure in place. Coaches moved from skater to skater or group to group as they taught their lessons, and parents (mainly mums) would sit and watch and wonder – why, why, why…?
- Why isn’t my child in the higher group when s/he can do that jump?
- Why is the naughty child getting all the attention so mine isn’t getting any?
- Why isn’t the coach doing a run through of his/her programme when the competition is so close?
- Why don’t I hear about the competition/test dates until it’s really short notice?
- Why is my child behaving like that?
And so on…
And the coaches were working so hard trying to teach as many skaters as possible in the time allocated, there was no time to talk to the parents and answer their questions. And the rather anti-social nature of their working hours didn’t lend itself to reaching them easily on the phone either. Meanwhile the coaches faced that perpetual problem encountered by teachers everywhere when trying to relay information to parents via less than reliable young intermediaries!
“BEST.PRESENT.EVER” – Melanie Perry, CEO, Heroes on Ice
So here’s my solution to a communication problem which had the potential at times to create major misunderstandings. The Ice Cool Confidence SkaterPlanner™. Including space for coaches to jot down what the skater is doing well and what they need to practice and work on during patch sessions. Or somewhere to alert the parents to test and competition application deadlines, the need for blade sharpening or new skates; dates for skate camps and recommendations for fitness and off-ice training; and a merit system to show how the skater has worked really hard and achieved recognition from their coach – a gold star for the first double axel landed, a really tough lesson, being a great role model in the face of adversity – and so on. Being appreciated by the coach will boost the skater’s morale and lessen the stresses on the parents. Having the information to hand about application deadlines and matters the parents need to deal with gives reassurance to the parent that the coach does indeed have the best interests of their skater at heart.
“Just wanted to say Molly Robotham has not put her planner down since we arrived home! Such a great tool already full with stuff! Thanks.” – Melanie Robotham

Alexandra Bolton –
I bought a skate planner for the New Year, I have been using it everyday and I love it! It has really helped me to focus my training and mindset, it is filled with positive tips and exercises. It has been great to write positive comments each time I skate, and my coach can write comments too. It has helped me appreciate all parts of my skating, big and small. I’m definitely feeling more positive and skating a cleaner free program. I’m working harder on what I need to improve too.

I bought the a skate planner at the beginning of the year, for my daughter and we’re both finding it very useful!! I’m learning more about ice skating, through helping my daughter use it and it’s helping her to focus more in her training and recently in her competitions. There are a lot of positive tips and advice. It’s great!
Melanie Perry, CEO Heroes on Ice –
This planner is an absolute MUST HAVE for any skater and makes the perfect gift. The different sections to help you prepare for competition, the Cracking Programme Elements table, Results Tracker and Diary listing all major competitions and birthdays of celebrated skaters is absolutely fabulous – the attention to detail in this diary is second to none . An invaluable tool for Skaters, Coaches and Parents – every skater should own one.

My daughter has had the skate planner for the last two years and she loves it. She has used every section, even designing her own dress and getting some autographs!! However she mainly uses it for keeping track of her goals and for keeping positive about her skating. I would highly recommend it for a Christmas gift.

We love the Skater Planner! It was a favourite Christmas present last year and I think we’ll be buying one for years to come. Every page is well thought out – my daughter particularly likes the ‘what went well today’ sections as a reminder to focus on the positives in every single training session. It’s full of helpful tips and useful information and I would highly recommend it for any skater.
